I am a Doctoral Student in the Department of Interdisciplinary Humanities (Cultural Competency) at King's College London under the supervision of Dr Shuangyu Li and Prof Katherine Woolf (UCL Medical School). My PhD project is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) through the London Interdisciplinary Social Sciences Doctoral Training Partnership (LISS-DTP) and is focused on colonialism and postgraduate specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the UK. At KCL, I am a Clinical Communication Facilitator for the GKT School of Medical Education and a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) in Cultural Competency.
I received an MA in European Studies (Cum Laude) from the University of Groningen, an MA in Languages Cultures and Society from the University of Strasbourg and a BA in International Cooperation and Development from the University of Rome – Sapienza.
Before returning to academia for my PhD, I held various roles in medical education with different organisations, including the General Medical Council (GMC), the British Society of Abortion Care Providers (BSACP), and the College of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (CoSRH). I am currently still working with the BSACP as Operations Manager, GMC as a Lay Education Associate for Curricula, Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) as a Lay Examiner for the MRCOG Part 3, and the International Federation of Abortion and Contraception Professionals (FIAPAC) as a Programme Committee Member.
My key research interests include, but are not limited to: Medical Education, Colonialism, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Abortion Care, Sexual and Reproductive Health, Cultural Competency, and Participatory Research.
